Presenters

Dr. John P. Zarb, B.A., D.D.S., M.Sc., F.R.C.D. (C)

Dr. Zarb completed his dental education at the University of Detroit Mercy in 1995. This was followed by a one year General Practice Residency at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI and graduate prosthodontic training at the University of Toronto in 2002. He currently holds a part-time appointment at the University of Illinois at Chicago as a Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr. Zarb is currently investigating the role of dental diagnostic codes in relation to the UIC College of Dentistry's electronic patient record. Dr. Zarb's pre-doctoral responsibilities include working with the faculty to expand on the Evidence-Based curriculum. He co-directs a seminar course for the advance education in prosthodontics program entitled "Review of the Dental Implant Literature: Evidence Based Critical Appraisal." Dr. Zarb also teaches predoctoral prosthodontics at the University of Toronto, where he is an Associate in Clinical Dentistry. He joined Prosthodontic Associates in July 2003 and is a faculty member of the Implant Prosthodontic Unit at the University of Toronto.


Duane Baluke R.D.T.

Duane Baluke is a highly regarded technician with over 40 years experience.  Raised in the dental laboratory business, he is intimately familiar with every aspect of its operation and management.  By the time he turned 20, he had already earned his R.D.T. from the C.D.T.O.  He has received dental technology diplomas from, among many others, the University of Toronto, the University of Western Ontario, North Western University, and George Brown College.  Currently, he is the owner, President and chief technician of Baluke Dental Studios.  Baluke is a well-staffed and full service laboratory serving Ontario, Quebec and the Eastern Provences.  Mr. Baluke is also a member of the AGD, ODA, CACD, CDA, Cal Lab, AAID, AACD, TACD, NODA, ADTO, DIAC and the DAO.  He still focuses considerable attention on assisting dentists with the creation of optimal treatment plans for advanced or complex cases.  This expertise proves especially beneficial to dentists breaking into implantology.
